Weather of Santa Teresa and Mal Pais

 

Costa Rica is a tropical country situated between eight to twelve degrees to the North
Latitude. The country is close to the equator, and the climate remains tropical all year round. However,
there are several micro-climates that appear due to different factors such as rainfall, topography,
elevations and geography. There are two main types of seasons that alter. Dry Season, or as locals
like to call it ‘Verano’, brings summer while the Wet Season or ‘Invierno’, means winters. Although,
summer is called a dry season, it only means that it rains comparably less than in the winter. The
winters and its thunderstorms coincide with the Atlantic Hurricane season. The conventional
seasonal changes common to most of the world do not fit to Costa Rica. Where December means a
chillingly cold weather in several countries, December in Costa Rica means warm days filled with
sunshine and warmth. Summer time lasts from December to April while May to November in Costa Rica means
Invierno. During the turning points, short transitions to spring and autumn occur. The micro-climatic
seasons depend on how much rain fall has occurred on a certain period. Humidity is yet another
factor. It is high in the Caribbean side as compared to that on the Pacific side. On the
coastal lowlands, the temperature is 27 degrees and atop the highest mounts, it is around 10 degrees.

So, for tourists who ask “When is the best time to Costa Rica?” The answer largely
depends on the purpose of the visit. Travelers, whose main pursuits are leisure, hitting the
beaches and having a real taste of a tropical clime, the time between December to April will be the
best. The High Season, or summer, usually attracts an influx of travelers. The coasts of Nicoya
Peninsula are sun-kissed this time of the year, and the resorts, hotels and rental villas are all open
for rent. Visitors who are into traversing the Arenal Volcano, September and October offer the
best climatic conditions. While those tempted by Monteverde, months of January and May are ideal.
Bird-watchers will be amazed by the numbers of colorful birds flying about all year round. November and
April offer the best time to view the exquisite quetzals

 For watching
the flocks of birds in a process of migration, spring time that lasts from March to May and autumn that
lasts from September to November are perfect! When it comes to fishing on the Pacific coast,
November and May provides impeccable chances to hook a few fishes.

Mal Pais and Santa Teresa are two beach towns located on the southern Pacific coast of Nicoya Peninsula.
Remote yet brimming with vibrant colors of rain-forests, volcanic rocks and oceanic waves, the towns
have lately become a hotspot for vacationers. Summer brings the best out of these towns. Surf breaks are
consistent, wildlife is teeming and the sun rays pierce the white sands of the beaches.
The period between December and April is idyllic to visit when one wants to have a dose of pristine
tropical nature.
