Description:

Mal Pais is a small Costa Rican town in the province of Puntarenas, on the southern coast of Nicoya
Peninsula.  People from all over the globe come to this tropical village to have a taste of
sultry sun, oceanic breeze and to get lost in the dazzling net of flourishing jungles. Mary’s Restaurant
is a classy little restaurant curtained by a covey of vigorous greenery which is famous for its
mouth-watering pizzas cooked on a brick-oven, scrumptious fish tacos, burritos, local fresh catches,
Quesadillas, yummy desserts and lots more. It is located in the heart of Mal Pais, shortly left to a
bridge over a stream, and has charmed the guests by its cordiality, homey set up and a perfect menu.
Come and experience the unique, open-air dinner underneath the starlit skies, sublime atmosphere and
sweet sounds of tropical medium. Take tempting bites of rich chocolate mousse perfected with a whipped
cream or enjoy the nectarous flavors of goat cheese, fried bacon strips, freshly caught fishes such as
eared yellow fin tuna and almond-leek braised red snapper filet and the best wood-fire pizza of Costa
Rica. Along with bites of superb food, do not forget to sip on the chilled and exotic evening cocktails.
The menu is versatile and everything has a modest price. Mary’s Restaurant also offer catering services
for wedding receptions, birthdays, holiday events and other special occasions. A 100 pages long book was
published in 2006 on Mary’s Restaurant featuring the articles, recipes and photographs by the chef, Alex
Barnett,. The chef has written all the information on Mal Pais, its history, landmarks and has also
included some insight of Mary’s Restaurant.

Mary’s Restaurant always makes use of fresh, organic and local ingredients for their cuisines. There are
lots of options for vegetarians, too. The restaurant is known for its home-made stone brick oven which a
unique taste to their pizzas and baked products. The restaurant has a bar that serves exquisite drinks
and cocktails especially prepared by Mary and her sisters for the guests.
